Bush clearing brush?

It's August and I haven't seen any footage of Bush clearing brush.
Either it's all cleared or the White House finally decided that
"brush clearing" wasn't doing much for Bush's image.

Either possibility is interesting to contemplate.

The brush clearing was of course a manufactured image intended to appeal to a subset of Bush's base, and was executed as an easy image booster.

Now, however, what does Bush have in his image-manufacturing arsenal? What can he do to remind people of why they like him? NOTHING.

Even with a President this weak in office, our Legislative "leaders" couldn't find the guts to oppose him on a dreadful wiretapping law.

The failure to stand up for civil rights is a disgrace. Why do you think this happened?

My own theory is that it is impossible to "soundbite" the wiretap story. To explain why it had to be opposed is to immediately go into the weeds on the issue to make the case. The other side merely has to say, "Why don't you want to protect us?" and the argument is lost.
